Lennart Axelsson, a Swedish born trumpet player and now living in Germany, is considered to be “the best European jazz trumpet player” combining the almost unlimited technique of a James Morrison with the creativity of a Clark Terry.
For many years Lennart was the lead and solo trumpet player with James Last Big Band touring all over the world and is featured on over one hundred of Last’s recordings with many going gold in Europe.
After leaving the Last orchestra Lennart joined the NDR (North German Radio Big Band), where he for may years was the featured trumpet soloist.
Lennart is now a frequent guest soloist at various jazz festivals and clubs primarily in Europe as well as several appearances in Western Canada where he last played with the Swedish group “Dixie Talks” at the Penticton Jazz Festival in 2012. Throughout his music career he has made guest performances with Chet Baker, Harry Mansini, Bill Horman, Sal Nestiko, Toots Thieleman and others including sitting in with Count Basie, Buddy Rich and Quincy Jones orchestras.
This year Lennart is bringing a group of mostly german “all star” musicians who he frequently plays with calling their style “Happy Jazz”. They will be a featured band at the Penticton Jazz Festival on September 8, 9 & 10 at well as one performance in Salmon Arm on September 7.
The will be unique opportunity for a limited number of Vernon jazz lovers to attend their practice on September 6 at the Science of Mind Centre in Vernon

Many new items are for sale in the store including: Hand made jewellery, made in the Mayan Technique, Crystals, Books from other faiths, locally made Rosaries, soya candles, children’s books, wind chimes and more.
Local artists display their works of art, which are also for sale.

The Okanagan Centre for Spiritual Living just celebrated 25 years of being open in Canada.
We are one of the oldest Centres in Canada.
At the Celebration we were joined by Reverend Lloyd Klein and Wendy Klein, the founding minister, and member(s) of the Okanagan Centre for Positive Living.
The celebration was hosted by the congregation with a pasta dinner, music, wine, and guest speakers: Rev Lloyd Klein, Wendy Klein, Dr Rev Deborah Gordon, from the Kelowna Centre for Spiritual Living, Rev Dale Jukes (the Spiritual Director from the Okanagan Centre for Spiritual Living) and Rev Sheila Tegart Co-Pastor.
Over 50 friends attended the function, which was a huge success and celebration of kindship, sharing, and reconnecting.
We had incredible musicians perform for during the evening, Hannah Jukes the Music Director for The Centre, Ron Malec, lead vocalist for The Centre, The Choir, Brandon Schmor, Jacquelyn Rose, and Sylvain Vallee.
